My first wedding was May 2018. While it was a long time ago, I remember it like it was yesterday. I was so incredibly nervous the night before, I think I double checked my photography equipment about 20 times, wrote myself a hundred notes, and changed my outfit too many times to count. My dad used to tell me that being nervous just means you're excited... it means you care. I couldn't agree more, I did care because I wanted to make sure that I was able to capture this beautiful couple's special day.
I knew Hannah from a friend in high school. She is sweet, kind, and has a great sense of humor. I remember certain moments when people were getting very emotional (understandably, given the day), she always knew the right time to crack a joke. Her husband Nick was quiet when I first met him, but quickly let his wonderful personality shine. His love for Hannah was so evident throughout the whole day, as was the love that embodied everyone there, both family and friends.
Their day was beautiful. With a simple, intimate setting and cool breeze in the air, these two lovebirds were married under a gorgeous white tent, lined with twinkling lights. As a bright sunset filled the sky, family and friends gathered for their reception to dance, laugh, and listen to speeches. Everyone is always a sucker for the emotional, loving speech by the best friend, parents, or loved one, and there were plenty of tears in the audience during these ones. But, Nick's sister delivered the funniest speech I have heard to date. It was filled with inside-jokes, but that didn't matter, everyone was killing themselves laughing. I am pretty sure I saw someone on the floor at one point clutching their stomach, unable to speak or even make a noise because they were laughing so hard. It was wonderful.
Yes, it has been a while since this wedding. But, I wanted to share this day because it was so important to me as a photographer. I learned so much this day, and felt such honour getting to be there. I hope you enjoy these pictures from this special day just as much as I do.
